Sarah Giles began her classical ballet training at the age of four under the direction of Kenley Stewart at A Chance To Dance in Safety Harbor, Florida. Here, she performed with the touring Moscow Ballet in their production of The Great Russian Nutcracker for three years. At age 10, Sarah began studying with Mark Anthony Jelks at Bay City Ballet, where she had many performance opportunities, which included dancing Clara in The Nutcracker and Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, along with being introduced to the participation in summer intensive auditions.
When she was 11, Sarah was taken under the wing of Lindsay Hensley Clark and joined Tampa Bay Ballet, learning and developing an education alongside Heidi Strohl Romero, Heather Mills, Christopher Liddell, and Carolyn Rose. With TBB, Sarah began competing in both the classical and contemporary divisions at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) annually. At age 13, Sarah was promoted to Trainee with Tampa Ballet Theatre’s second company and received even greater performance opportunities in classical and neoclassical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and The Beast, Dracula, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and was selected to compete the ensemble piece, What Lies Beneath, choreographed by Heather Mills, at YAGP. She has worked with Christopher Liddell on multiple contemporary and Broadway theatre pieces, one of which was performed in the contemporary division of YAGP as well. Over the years, Sarah has attended/been accepted into summer programs and/or awarded scholarships to American Ballet Theatre in New York, Boston Ballet, Carolina Ballet, Ellison Ballet, Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, Next Generation Ballet, School of American Ballet, and Tampa Bay Ballet.
Sarah is beyond excited to have been promoted to be an apprentice with Tampa Ballet Theatre for the 2018-2019 season and looks forward to all the exciting opportunities this year may bring. She is so glad to be able to do something, such as dance, that makes her so happy, and plans to further her dance career professionally in the coming years.
