Kaitlyn McGowan began dancing at the age of three with a local dance studio in Safety Harbor, Florida. In 2008, she enrolled for classes with the newly-founded Tampa Bay Ballet, the official school of Tampa Ballet Theatre. Here, she trained with Lindsay Hensley Clark, Heidi Strohl Romero, Heather Mills, Carolyn Rose, and Christopher Liddell. Through this experience, she studied ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, character, and Broadway. She later became a trainee with Tampa Ballet Theatre in 2015 at the age of 12 and held that position for three years. For the 2018-2019 season, Kaitlyn has been promoted to an apprentice with the company. She has been able to perform in many classical and neoclassical works, such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Paquita, Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and Dracula.
Kaitlyn has had the privilege to spend her summers at the Sarasota Ballet Summer Intensive in 2016 and the Carolina Ballet Summer Intensive in 2017. She attended the Classical Ballet Intensive at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2018, where she trained with Susan Jaffe, Jared Redick, Maggie Wright Tesch, Rick McCullough, Eva Draw, Jennet Zerbe, Fanchon Cordell, Elizabeth Parkinson, and Douglas Gawriljuk for five weeks. In the past, she has been accepted to attend the School of American Ballet’s Summer Program and American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive in New York.
