Drew Travis Robinson was born in Clearwater, Florida and began dancing with the Tutterow Dance Academy in Largo. Robinson was accepted into the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School where he majored in Dance while also taking classes in musical, performance, and technical theatre. Under Suzanne Pomerantzeff and Patricia L Paige-Parks he acted as rehearsal assistant for multiple shows and events while also choreographing for the dance program and various musical theatre projects. At the University of Arizona, Robinson was instructed by Amy Ernst, Doug Nielson, James Clouser, Sam Watson, Tamara Dyke-Compton, and Melissa Lowe. UA provided him with the opportunity and honor to perform the role of Sitting Bull in José Limón’s The Unsung under the direction of Colin Connor for The Limón International Dance Festival in 2015. Robinson was also asked to choreograph by the University’s African American Student Affairs to welcome Chaka Khan. Before graduating, he was presented with the Gertrude Shurr Memorial Award for unparalleled excellence in modern. Robinson was accepted into The Limón Dance Company and The Florida Dance Theatre where he choreographed, performed, and taught for two years. Robinson is honored to join Tampa Ballet Theatre for their 2019-2020 season and dance alongside such talented artists.
