Originally from Fairport NY, Charles Java began his dance studies at the Fitzsimmons Dance Factory with Lauri Meyer Lucas. He holds a BFA in Dance Performance from Towson University where his studies continued under the director of Dennis Price, Catherine Horta-Hayden, and [other respected teacher] among others. His performance credits with the Towson Dance Company include: Dougala by Geoffrey Holder, Blue ‘n’ Gold by Stephen Greenston, Airs by Paul Taylor, Nine Love Songs and a Bucket of Tears by Juan Carlos Rincones, Frame by Frame by Yanis Pikieris and the Cavalier in The Nutcracker.
After graduation, Mr. Java had the pleasure of dancing with Bowen McCauley Dance in Washington, DC. During his time with the company, he toured in Mexico and Germany, as well as performed in the world premiere of Amygdala by Lucy Bowen-McCauley at the company’s 10th Anniversary Concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
While in New York City, Mr. Java trained with the renowned faculty of Steps on Broadway. In addition, he performed with the Nicholas Andre Dance Theater, Le Troupe Liddell, and Jazz Choreography Enterprises at such venues as the Ailey Citigroup Theater, Manhattan Movement& Arts Center, and Dance Theatre Workshop.
Mr. Java joined Tampa Ballet Theatre in 2014. Since joining, he has enjoyed performing roles such as the stage as the King of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland and Oberon in Midsummer Night’s Dream. He looks forward to the exciting season ahead!
