Baylie Dockins began her dance journey at the age of 3 through a Parks and Recreation program. Very early on she realized that dance was something she enjoyed. At the age of 7, she started attending a competition studio and began competing at the age of 10. She has always known that she wanted to do ballet, but had limited ballet training until the age of 13. At that time, she started training with Ms. Mara Klenda at another local competition studio and started concentrating more on ballet as well as continuing her training in other genres as well as competitions. During her time with Ms. Klenda, she attended Kansas City Ballet Summer Intensive, Oklahoma City Ballet Summer Intensive, Kaatsbaan Extreme Ballet Summer Intensive and Milwaukee Ballet Summer Intensive. Attending these intensives opened up the world of ballet to this small town Kansas girl.
Baylie has had much success in competitions, including many first place awards, judge’s awards and awards for best technique. During the last several years, Baylie has also explored the world of choreography. She has choreographed several routines in contemporary, musical theatre, jazz and tap. While learning her choreographic voice, she has explored the differences in music and learned to make those differences visual for her audiences. Baylie has received best choreography awards for her routines.
Baylie is excited to be joining the Tampa Ballet Theatre as an apprentice this year and is excited to learn and grow in her training as well as performing along side the company.
